About Thinkதமிழ்

Thinkதமிழ் started back in 2018 as an Instagram page focused on sharing Thamizh Sangam literature, ancient literature from at least 2,000 years back, with the aim of reaching the younger generation in a way that felt fresh and relatable. The idea was to bring these ancient,  beautiful texts into a space where young people could connect with their  roots easily.

Over time, the focus grew and shifted to meet the needs of learners in the  diaspora, many of whom were looking for practical ways to learn Thamizh.  The content broadened to include more language learning tools,  interactive posts, and topics that resonate with today’s learners, all  designed to make Thamizh both accessible and enjoyable.

This evolution led to new initiatives like Tea & Thamizh — relaxed, social gatherings over tea that encourage natural conversation and cultural connection. Another space, Kathaippoma Kathaippoma,  offers an inviting online environment for spoken  practice, welcoming learners of all confidence levels to share and grow together.

With these efforts, Thinkதமிழ் has grown from just a page into a  vibrant community that’s constantly evolving. It’s a space where  learners—from all over—come together to support, inspire, and encourage  each other in their Thamizh journey. This is more than language  learning; it’s about building connections through culture, stories, and  shared experiences.

Thinkதமிழ் Partnership with Valluvam

Thinkதமிழ் is honoured to partner with Valluvam, a grassroots organization committed to uplifting communities in Maddakalappu (Batticaloa), Sri Lanka. Through this partnership, Thinkதமிழ் collaborates with Valluvam to host Thamizh and Thirukkural related online events.

In 2025, Thinkதமிழ் hosted the following in collaboration with Valluvam:

  • Thirukkural Talks sharing the Thirukkural's timeless wisdom for Thamizh Heritage Month through Zoom sessions for Thamizh Heritage Month
  • Thamizh Thaarakai - Celebrating Women of Strength, a global online event honouring the inspiring stories of Thamizh women who are changing lives and communities. Missed the event?

In addition to events, Thinkதமிழ் supports Valluvam's initiatives through merchandise sales. A portion of proceeds from each sale goes towards funding Valluvam’s impactful initiatives like Malarum Mangaiyar (Blooming Ladies), Nambikkai Nivaranam (Relief of Hope), and Kudil Mempaadu (Building a House). This collaboration reflects a shared vision of empowering individuals through education, health, and community development. By combining language learning with social impact, Thinkதமிழ் aims to nurture not only linguistic skills but also a spirit of giving and connection.

Supporting Valluvam through ThinkThamizh allows learners and supporters to make a meaningful difference in the lives of women, children, and families in remote villages of Sri Lanka, bridging culture and compassion.
